Boxes and things are still strewn about the aparment haphazardly, but not as much as yesterday. I'm working on it, as much as I can with how tired I am.

After church, Emily and I did some shopping and she helped me put some things in order. I bought a new desk, and we put that together. I also got a rug for the living room, and some curtains, and we moved the kitchen table to the middle of the kitchen. Before, it was over in the corner. I had been thinking that since I don't use my kitchen table that much, it would be okay to have two sides against the wall, and then it wouldn't be in the way. But the kitchen felt very large and distant, so we experimented with moving it. Now, having the table in the middle kind of brings the two ends together, and there's more room around it than I thought there would be, so I don't think it will be in the way at all.

That was a lot to say about the placement of my kitchen table. :P

I'm still working on the arrangement of some of the pieces of furniture in the living room. The TV and desk are staying. The couch may move a little, but it's pretty much set. I'm still thinking about the others. Tomorrow I'll try something new and see if I like it.

The thing is, this is an old house and the floors aren't perfectly flat everywhere. Especially against the walls, things kind of tilt forward. Mostly, that's only an issue with my two bookcases. I need to find good spots for them where they won't be in danger of falling over, and until I do, I can't put anything on them. So all the stuff that will go on the shelves is still in boxes, cluttering up the living room.

Tomorrow, I really want to get things finished up here. It's messy, and I like things to be tidy.

Enough apartment talk.

I also want to tell a bit about the new Y.A.C.H.T. Club at church. (Young Adult Christians Hangin' Together.) We had our first event tonight - a sort of cook-out at one of the girls' house. There was a lot of food, so we ate, and played some games, and chatted a bit. It was a little awkward, because we're just starting to get to know each other, but it was a lot of fun! And there were more people than I thought there'd be! Most of the young adults from church aren't really around permanently. Some are away at jobs or school, a couple of guys are currently in Iraq. I just didn't see us getting much of a turn-out. But there were eight young adults and two of the adult semi-leader-types. That's about double what I expected, so that was cool.

I gladly took enough of the food leftovers for a lunch tomorrow. I haven't gotten to the grocery store yet, so I don't have much food here. I have cereal, milk, some grapes, three carrots, and a little cup of applesauce. Oh, and also some microwave popcorn. There's enough for breakfast, but I don't know how to pack a lunch out of those items. So I wrapped up a hot dog and a brownie and some Pringles from the cook-out. I'm all set.
