So much for enjoying the Christmas season

Kevin told everyone today that starting next week, we have to put in ten hours of mandatory overtime. Ten hours. Dude, that sucks.
He said it would last for probably three weeks. I guess that's not so bad. But really, I remember last Christmas season. We definitely had less people cleaning, retouching, and cropping. Like, less than half the number we have this year. But last year, we never had a set number of mandatory overtime hours to work. Overtime was pretty much mandatory, but we could work as much as we wanted to.
So I don't understand why this year, after putting in five mandatory hours for eight weeks, we're being pushed to ten hours. With so many people working now, I thought we were really on top of things. We're busy, but we're not as backed up as we were last year.
Maybe Kevin just wants to get all of this done a week or two before Christmas. Beating the deadline, instead of just making it. I'm hoping that he's underestimating us. He thinks it will take three weeks to get everything caught up, but with so many people working overtime, I hope it takes only one. Maybe one and a half.

Date: 2006-11-21 03:50 am (UTC)I think he doesn't want to hire more people to work for just a month. And we wouldn't need them in January. Plus, we are so crowded for space, I don't know where we'd put them.
Eh, hopefully they won't need me in January either, because that's when I'll be searching for a new job.
